Spaying
or Neutering
Do not neuter you dog, it
destroys their mental health, their instincts and their physical health, just be a responsible friend. This
ridiculous attempt at controlling the animal population and the thousands
of unwanted pets that are unfortunately euthanized in the US is, in our
opinion, a miserable failure and a killer of large breed dogs. As usual it
is the people who are the problem and as usual, the animals have to pay
the price.
Why? Basically
propaganda, really, really bad science and profit for veterinarians. We
will be assisting shortly on a piece on the internet for people who want the truth,
but the short of it for now is;
1. Socially, the group of
people that take the time to buy a pedigreed pet and raise him or her as a
family member, feed their best friends the best food, and spend the money
at the vet, are not the people who let their dogs roam through the inner
cities of America, creating a pet population problem. The people who
conduct themselves in that fashion ,
remain the same, always will be the same and they do not spend the money or even worry
about "fixing" their pet. For most of us, if our dog was missing
from the house for just ten minutes, the entire family goes out and looks
for him, that is if one of the neighbors hasn't brought them home already.
2. The vast majority of
euthanized adult dogs are dropped off at the pound because they are
unwanted. Example; I am moving or my boyfriend hates dogs, my cousin moved
in and is allergic etc. This is not something any of us would ever even
consider doing in a lifetime. Should something catastrophic happen in our
lives, then we would find a good loving home for our friend and family
member. The type of people who create this problem will continue to do
so, regardless of whether or not loving pet owners have their dogs
butchered by profit motivated veterinarians.
3. This fanatical
American propaganda machine that touts the message of the
uninformed, was created when people saw containers of pet's bodies that are destroyed
at animal facilities around the country, being loaded onto trucks for the
city dump. As horrendous as this is to animal lovers as ourselves, this
has nothing to do with us. However, they use the propaganda machine to target
the socially responsible and animal loving population to surgically alter
their best friends because of problems and situations created by others
who actions and principles are radically different than our own.
4. The big problem for all
of us, is the lie that your dog will be healthier and live
longer. Absolutely absurd, ridiculous and such bad science that it is
almost laughable if it wasn't so hurtful to our large breed dogs. Small
breeds also, but the larger breeds suffer from some specific orthopedic
and gastrointestinal problems that are exasperated by this primitive
surgery. Emotionally, all of the breeds, as a matter of fact, all mammals
would be affected similarly.
5. Health and emotional
problems are our objection to this primitive surgery. First and foremost
remember that your dog is not that different from you. We share over 75%
of the same genetic material. Use your common sense.
6. Simple factual
statement "We all need our hormones (testosterone or estrogen) for
normal bone health. The lack or reduction of these hormones in aging
humans is the basic reason for bone density problems in the mature adult.
(Along with a myriad of other problems created by lowered hormone levels).
Since large breed dogs are prone to
some orthopedic problems like hip-displasure or alike, does it make sense
to remove the substance most responsible for bone density and then to make
things even worse, increase the body weight to force the issue to be more
chronic. Of course not. But not to worry, your vet will be glad to sell
you hormone replacement therapy down the road after he removes the organs
that produce them to help your poor hurting animal. The first clue that
your Vet is ignorant to the science of animal health is when he or she
tells you to give your 12 week old puppy a full hysterectomy or
castration. This before the dog has even had a chance to reach full bone
growth and density at 2 or 3 years old. This must be obvious to even the
most untalented or uninformed Veterinarian. On the flip side, if you
find a Vet that suggests that you at least wait two or three years for the
reasons stated and more, while we still don't agree, at least you have
located a thinking and caring Doctor.
7. Overweight large dogs are more
prone to a myriad of diseases and conditions, just like humans. The
current method of sterilization destroys the dogs hormonal and chemical
balance to such a degree that they are unable to maintain a healthy body
weight. The
propaganda machine says about the dogs gaining weight, "so what look at the alternative"
(Meaning too many dogs). The alternative to surgery is actually a healthy, lean, long lived, non-diabetic, non-orthopedically
challenged dog. Cancer is more prevalent in obesity along with 100 other
conditions. Who profits from the obese dog? The specialty dog food
companies and the veterinarians. Spaying or neutering your pet is the
worst thing you can do for their overall health. Basically, when a dog is
subjected to theses radical surgeries, their owner just started killing
their dog slowly.
B. Bloat kills many large breed dogs that are altered. First, they gain the
weight because their bodies have been deprived of the hormones that we all
need, then the vet sells you special lower-calorie food, that are actually
full of carbohydrates, which are not natural to the dog's diet which makes
them fat. Then you
are suppose to control their eating by depriving them of free access to
dry food, which starves them, so they gouge on
food when they get the food, drink their water and die. But all of this not until you spend $2500.00 in vet
bills trying to save her or him. So you get another puppy and the vet says, "We
need to spay her too. So she won't get ovarian cancer" (or
testicular). Well genius, if we
remove her tail she will never get cancer in that either. That is the most
ridiculous part of the health argument that the fanatics make and the Vets
love to go along with that they won't
get cancer in anything that we remove. No kidding? But what about the
systemic-wide increased cancer risk that obesity and immunosuppression
from hormone depletion presents? Oh that's right ......no facts or science
please.
Science Links More To Come
Soon We will be putting more links soon.
C. Emotionally this surgery wreaks havoc on a dog and their identity as it
would with anyone. Would you do a radical removal of the sexual organs of a young child? Of
course not. If you did, do you think that you might have a child that was
just a little bit different than the other kids? Most of the people who
push this surgery, are people who need a cause, not people who actually
have a dog in their home that is part of their family. When our dog is
sick or weird it affects the entire family. Many of us may only have our dog, or
have come to realize that he (or she) truly is our best friend. Some
of us have children and want the dog for protection of our families. Or
hunt or track or run or just want to throw a Frisbee and enjoy life.
Who wants a fat, non-active, sexually non-descript tube, devoid of it's
original self and abilities, living with us, that serves no
purpose except to eat and crap.
The people who promote
this indiscriminate and wholesale surgical alteration do not appreciate
what it is to have a healthy vibrant animal family member, who fills our
lives in a special way and would gladly give their lives for us. Many of
the promoters of this surgery, are somehow profiting from the surgery
itself and/or side effects of the
surgery and in a big way. We estimate to the tune of over3 billion
dollars.
Lastly, many of the
people who promote the surgery, do not believe in pedigreed dogs and think that the AKC is a weapon
of mass destruction. I have heard many say that intentional dog breeding
should be outlawed. While to many of us this just seems like a lot of silliness from some bored city people,
it isn't silliness to our kind and loving friends who finds him or herself under the
knife, in our profit driven quasi-medical community. We need to do the right
thing by the dogs who trust us to do the right thing by them, as you know
in your heart, they would ALWAYS, do
by you.
The groups
promoting the surgery can't make a good
scientific argument, medically or socially, because they don't have one.
It is about profit and fanaticism
Don't
do it to your best friends. They wouldn't do it to you.
All
This being said, it is important to be Socially Responsible!!
So we repeat;
Today, with the animal population situation in many areas it would be
socially irresponsible to allow a male Weimaraner (or other dog) to range freely.
Since we do not believe in surgically altering our dogs, it is absolutely
necessary to make sure that you have a good strong fence or retaining
system. While some dogs will be stopped by the electronic fences, a
Weimaraner moving at some speed will run right through them. These also do
not protect your dogs from roaming strays. Therefore, we believe that it is
not possible to have A Weimaraner in today's world, in most areas, without
a well fenced yard or like retaining system.
